As you may already be aware, a third planning application to demolish the single dwelling at 51-53 Canonbie Road in order to build a block of six flats has been submitted to Lewisham Planning. Local residents, and the Association, have objected to this application. View the full objection letter here. A shortened version of the Association’s objection letter is available below for you to make use of should you wish to do so.
Objection Letter for Residents
As mentioned in previous newsletter articles (when previous applications were submitted), the Association is concerned that should this application be successful then others may do the same.
Full details of the application can be found here:

We would like to encourage as many people as possible to respond to the Lewisham planning department at the below address:

Hello,
Thanks for this, very useful to be able to act with one voice, along with the addition of a few personal opinions.
One issue that is of real concern is loss of front gardens to tarmac, decking and paving. This development would see the loss of a splendid English garden in exchange for yet more parking space.
This report – http://www.gigl.org.uk/Portals/0/Downloads/LondonGardenCity.pdf – shows that between 1998 and 2008 two-and-a-half Hyde Parks a year were lost in garden space in London. This is catastrophic for our local environment, particularly for biodiversity – bees, butterflies, hoverflies and all the wildlife dependent on wildflowers and soils to maintain our local ecology.
I wonder when councils (not just Lewisham) will take firm action against this gradual degredation of the environment.
Many thanks,
Daniel Greenwood
