As you will no doubt have noticed, Lewisham council is in partnership with Skanska to replace our street lighting. If you have any comments or concerns about the street lighting provision in your area, please let us know by commenting below, and we will do our best to help

Is there any evidence of an environmental impact assessment for this scheme? One concern is the impact the lighting – being at such a height and strength – will have on certain species of bats in the area, as well as moths and other wildlife dependent on natural processes of light and dark to survive and maintain their link in local ecosystems.
Since the lampposts have been installed there is some evidence of light pollution. It remains to be seen whether these issues were considered before Lewisham (or indeed Croydon) agreed to go ahead with the scheme.
The tall black lamp posts which were being erected today along Westwood Park are completely inappropriate for the streetscape. Westwood Park is s quiet residential street – not the south circular! A step back for design quality for a miniscule energy saving. At least they provider could have used shorter columns?
